VET FEE-HELP changes

 Please note VET FEE- HELP new registrations cease December 31 2016. VET Student Loans starts January 1st 2017.  The Government believes our courses do not lead to employment. 

Students already receiving VET FEE- HELP will continue to do so until December 31st 2017

VET FEE‑HELP is available to assist eligible students studying higher level vocational education and training (VET) qualifications to pay their tuition fees. Higher level VET qualifications are at the diploma level and above. For a trial period, VET FEE‑HELP will also be available for a limited number of Certificate IV qualifications. VET FEE‑HELP can be used to pay all or part of an eligible student’s tuition fees, but cannot be used for additional study costs such as accommodation or text books.


Am I eligible for VET FEE‑HELP? Apply now before December 31 2016You are eligible for VET FEE‑HELP if you:

  • are an Australian citizen or permanent humanitarian visa holder (resident in Australia for the duration of the unit); AND
  • have not exceeded the FEE‑HELP limit (see below); AND
  • meet course requirements as follows:
    • are a full fee-paying / fee for service student studying a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma level course at an approved VET FEE‑HELP provider; OR
    • are a student subsidised by a state or territory government (other than the Australian Capital Territory) studying a Diploma or Advanced Diploma course;OR
    • are a student subsidised by the Victorian, South Australian, Queensland, Western Australian and New South Wales Government studying in a specified Certificate IV course (nominated courses vary by state) as part of the Certificate IV Trial that concludes in December 2016; AND
    • are enrolled with an approved provider in an eligible unit of study by the census date for that unit.
Am I studying at an approved VET FEE‑HELP provider?Not all providers are approved to offer VET FEE‑HELP loans. You can only access VET FEE‑HELP at a registered training organisation that has been approved under theHigher Education Support Act 2003 to offer VET FEE‑HELP to eligible students.For a list of providers who are approved to offer VET FEE‑HELP, see Approved VET providers.For a list of providers who are approved to offer VET FEE‑HELP to a limited number of Certificate IV courses visit the Certificate IV trial page.


Can subsidised students access VET FEE‑HELP?Yes, if the student is eligible and is currently subsidised by:

  • a state or territory government (other than the Australian Capital Territory) studying a Diploma or Advanced Diploma course; OR
  • the Victorian, South Australian, Queensland, Western Australian and New South Wales Government studying in a specified Certificate IV course (nominated courses vary by state) as part of the Certificate IV Trial (concluding in December 2016)

and is studying at an approved VET provider. Contact your provider for more information on subsidised students.VET FEE‑HELP is currently only available for full fee paying students.
