Our innovative 10745NAT Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry and Theology provide studies in biblical studies, theology and ministry at a vocational graduate level for those who may work in a secular field but also sense a call to ministry.  You will cause your faith to deepen and your understanding of God will be stretched.

Applicants must be actively involved in a leadership role within a Christian church and have completed a 10744NAT Advanced Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology or equivalent, or recognised Australian undergraduate degree or higher, or equivalent overseas qualification.

In addition to study time students are required to complete 120 hours of volunteer work within their local church. This volunteer work is called “Work-Based Training”. 10745NAT Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry and Theology students are expected to minister in a leadership role within their local church, where they are required to develop others.


Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process where students may be granted credit towards a qualification in recognition of their prior skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training. The process requires students to gather evidence of their skills.  Fees apply.  Ask Hope College for an RPL application form.


Hope College recognises and accepts Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Direct Credit Transfer (DCT) will be given to any student who has successfully completed units in any of our accredited courses with another RTO.  Students must produce a certified copy of their Record of Results/Statement of Attainment for our records prior to the commencement of studies. There is no fee for DCT.

  • Read the Student Handbook and sign the Student Handbook Declaration Slip
  • Obtain a reference from your local church pastor (Pastoral Reference Form available From Hope College website)
  • Write a short essay giving your reasons for studying this course
  • Complete Work-Based Training Agreement and Plan

Assessment tasks include questions, essays, case scenarios, research, portfolios, and workplace competency. Upon successful completion of the course requirements, you will be awarded a 10745NAT Graduate Certificate in Christian Ministry and Theology. Participants who exit the course without completing all requirements will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for those units in which they have demonstrated competency.

To complete this course you will need a Study Bible (e.g. NIV Study Bible, Life Application Study Bible) and access to a Bible Concordance, Bible Dictionary, and Bible Commentary, which can be purchased or accessed via the internet.


Training support is provided by Hope College staff via phone, email and/or internet.


Completion of these courses can provide partial articulation into a Masters of Ministry or equivalent.
